To buy a villa or apartment in Spain, particularly San José, is right up there at the top of many people’s list of things they’d love to do. But for most, investing in property in Spain remains a dream: where to start, where to look, what are the pitfalls, how does the process work, what are the hidden costs, what are the risks - and it’s another language - it’s too much to even consider. However, with the right help and advice, buying in Spain can be a stress-free and even enjoyable experience.

San José is a gorgeous, secluded coastal village in the Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata - Níjar, just 30 minutes from Almería International Airport. It’s very Spanish, so, if you want plenty of “home” familiarities, it might be best to look further along the coast, either way.

Whether you’re thinking of investing in a holiday home, or you’re tempted to move to this wonderful area full-time, take a look at our property listings and see what we have to offer.
Most of our properties are centrally situated in San José itself, often just a few minutes walk from the restaurants, bars, shops, beautiful beaches and the warm waters of the Mediterranean.

We only have premier quality homes on this site and we check regularly that the prices asked are realistic. We can, of course, research the market on your behalf and try to find exactly the specification you’re looking for, as some properties never make it to the agents or onto the internet.

One key question to ask yourself: What type of property, what type of ownership? The romantic image of a beach-front villa spilling onto the sand is great in theory but is it right for you? New properties tend to be more expensive and can have teething troubles, whilst older properties may need renovation (are you a DIY expert or do you want to spend your holidays catching up with maintenance?). If you’d like a pool, who will manage it, as it needs regular maintenance? Who looks after the property while you’re away? How many bedrooms do I really need? Are your language skills up to explaining to local craftsmen what needs to be done?

We’ve prepared a guide to buying property in Spain, which you can see on this website and we hope it helps.

We’ve also prepared a small document on finance and mortgage considerations, with assistance from one of our financial consultants.
