San José is located on the south-east coast of Spain, it is just 30 minutes from Almería International Airport. The flights from the UK keep changing, and of course they vary according to season, but the following sites should be able to give you more information:
EasyJet (from Gatwick all year round)
Ryan Air (from Stansted, East Midlands, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Madrid)
Flybe (from regional airports to Alicante, Murcia etc)
TUI (from London Gatwick, Manchester) (from regional airports to Alicante, Malaga)
British Airways (from London Gatwick to Almeria, from regional airports to Alicante, Malaga)
Fly2 (from Stansted, Manchaster, Birmingham, East Midlands.... and more)
We recommend hiring a car, as the price out of high season is often not much more than a taxi both ways.
Getting to San Jose by Bus: the buses from the airport to Almeria bus station leave every 40 minutes (80 minutes at weekends) from about 6.30 am until about 10.30 pm. From the bus station, you get a bus with Autocares Bernado; these leave at 10.00, 13.15 and 18.30 weekdays, 10.00, 14.15 and 18.30 Saturdays, and 10.00 and 18.30 Sunday. For up-to-date information, visit www.autocaresbernardo.com, as the timetable changes with the seasons.
Other ways to get here:
San José is about 3.5 hours drive from Málaga airport, 2.5 hours from Alicante airport and just under 2 hours from Murcia International airport (now the new motorway is open, this is a good option - the toll costs about 12 euros but it is worth it for the easy drive). Don't forget Granada too, it's a 2.5 hour drive and is very scenic.
From Madrid, it takes about 6 hours by car or about 8 hours on the train (to Almería) via Granada.
From Bilbao, Santander or the French border, it is a hard 10 hour drive - best to break the journey with a night stop.
